The Protagonist

PART-I

The Office

It was a normal day suffused with sloth and sullen thoughts like Mukesh’s old classic songs, slow and sad. It was the third day of my unemployment. I was doing the thing which all great personalities do in their first stage of Success, Dreaming! No one was in my room. It was just me, my loneliness and three four mosquitoes.

Like the people of ‘Bombay’, the mosquitoes are also hard working and highly optimize. I live on the 6th floor of my apartment and it is on great height but for me, not for mosquitoes. In Godhra, my hometown, they don’t give a shit if you live above 3rd floor. Here their terror is spread over till 11th floor and even more.

So, I was sleeping like almost 90% Gujaraties do in the afternoon and suddenly my phone rang.

“Hello, Is there Mr. Lay Shah speaking. We are calling on XYZ agency we have found a job for you.”

“Yeah, I am Lay Shah” From somewhere suddenly the playlist was changed from Mukesh to Kishor Kumar.

I had had an interview after one day of the call. I had been starting my preparation for the Job. The thing was, I was not that much impressed by that proposal, in the way the agent proposed to me.

I woke up at that morning. Completed my all morning activities. Took a local train from Dadar to Andheri. Reached there at on the time.

I thought it was the normal office with two-three ceiling fans and plastic chairs. Two-three old aunties and uncles. One Peon whose mouth would be full of Gutaka.

But the whole scenario was completely different from my imagination. I can’t believe my eyes at that point of time.

The Building in which my interview was one of the biggest among all the building of that area. The whole area is known by that name of a building. I saw the name plate of the different office on the entrance. It was like this,

 1st floor- Tata Consultancy Service
2nd floor- J.P Morgan Chase bank.
 3rd floor – My office.

I still couldn’t believe my eyes. I haven’t been that much lucky that I will get this kind of Job. But I was getting nervous. I was so nervous that I couldn’t press the 3rd button in the lift. I was sweating. Somehow, I managed to do that. I reached there. The security guard asked me very politely with an accent, “Sir, where do you want to go and what is your purpose of arrival?”

Now, I was so scared. I can’t describe my situation in English. The exact phrase at that situation for me at that time is that,

 'आँख के आलावा और बहोत कुछ फट गया।'

But I entered at that place I have completed my Engineering degree I can do anything (Biggest motivation in our life, if you have completed engineering than you can do anything in life). I went to receptionist desk, ask the receptionist that,

“Pardon me! But my name is Lay Shah I have come here for Job Interview.”

 “Yeah, take a seat!”

After few minutes, she gave me one paper in which some questions were asked related to English comprehension and literature. Thanks to my reading habit. I solved it all correctly. It increased my confidence to another level.

“Mam, here is my answer paper!”

“Okay, give it to me and wait for HR in the conference room,” She told me without any expression on her face. She gave me a sheet of paper and something was written on it.

I was seating there; the whole conference room was full of company achievement. At that time, I realized that this is multinational firm. Who is currently have business in The United states of America. They have clients only over there, I have got a chance to work in this company.

I took a glance over a sheet, it was about rules and information about different terms of the company. The salary they were giving me was higher than I was expecting. Plus, Saturday-Sunday holiday. Plus, an increment of salary in every two months. Plus, a company will provide you transportation. Plus, food for one time. Plus, experience certificate of multinational company which had much value in the market. Plus, training for the two months. These pluses blew my mind completely.

One thing was sure in my mind that I would give my best for this.

NOTE: Due to the limited word of boundaries I can’t complete my story in this part. How was the Personal interview with the HR? Will I get a job or still enjoying with unemployment with me, my loneliness and 3 mosquitoes?
