Chamatkar ‧ 1992 ‧ Bollywood/Fantasy ‧ 2h 51m
As far as you guys are concerned, it's Naseer sir's birthday and I'm sure you'd all expect some recommendations from his best movies. It was also confusing for me. His filmography includes a lot of films that I would recommend to you, from Jane Bhi Do Yaaro to Aakrosh to Mirza Ghalib and one of my favourite characters from Masoom. I want to share with you today something that introduced me to Naseer Saab even before I knew he is an actor and a legend.
Chamatkar is a 1992 movie about a ghost, Marco, who was betrayed and executed by one of his partners, as well as a gullible and nobleman named Sunder, moving to Bombay and getting cheated by everyone he meets. While Marco is helping Sundar in many ways, he helps him get a job, get respect and help him win one of the funniest cricket matches ever, on the other hand, he wants revenge on his partner because of whom he is a ghost now.
Throughout my childhood, I have seen this movie so many times that I really have no idea how many times I have seen it. In the same way, I used to smile while watching my childhood movies, I still always enjoy every scene. I can confidently say that even in this age of IPL, I haven't seen a cricket match as exciting as this one. The young, gullible Shahrukh also looks so good in this movie. Both of them have so super cool chemistry between them. Shammi Kapoor plays the principal and Urmila Matondkar plays a college student and Suraj's love interest, but you know who steals our hearts, among them Mr Johnny Lever! It is impossible to find a commentator like him. Even as I write this, I am laughing. Watch this movie if you haven't seen it yet, just for the Cricket match scene where Suraj's team plays against Monty's team and guess who Monty is? Our Lagan guy Ashutosh Gowariker is Monty. Additionally, there are a couple of shots with our lovely Irfan Bhai!
In case you're interested in viewing this film, you'll find this movie on Netflix and YouTube.
Jao Dekh lo!
Please let me know how you like the recommendation in the comments! Even if you have some memories related to this movie, please share them!
Cheers!
