Winter Sunset

It is the last week of February, if you close your eyes, you can almost feel your mother calling you to come back home because it's going to get dark soon. It’s only six, and you still want to play more. But evening is settling in, and your mom is making gajar ka halwa for you. The young, innocent child you once were is running through a narrow street toward home, with a soft piano playing in the background.

Suddenly, you open your eyes and bask in the orange sunlight on your face. The pink, yellow, orange, and blue colours in the sky make you believe that someone is painting the sky every day just for you. And somehow, coming back from work or ending your day doesn’t feel so heavy.

Oh, those early sunsets,
I am gonna miss you.
